The Mandalay Bay Tram officially opened in Las Vegas on April 9, 1999. The Mandalay Bay Tram provides a fast and convenient link between the Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay Resort hotels.The Mandalay Bay Tram is a twin-track version of Doppelmayr Cable Car’s CABLE Liner Shuttle automated people mover technology. The Mandalay Bay configuration consists of an elevated 2,749 foot long guideway and two completely independent shuttle systems running side by side on two separate hauling rope loops. The guideway passes above street level at a height of between 16 and 26 feet. The rope, manufactured by Austria Draht Wire Rope, is diameter 33mm 8x19 RLL poly core with one splice per side. RICHARD RYER INC. was involved in the splicing of the wire rope used in the construction of the Mandalay Bay Tram, and has been selected to perform the electromagnetic testing of the cables. |
